Preview – Center for Nonprofit Success Online Fundraising Event – Feb. 28

Later this month I’ll be participating in a panel discussion on Online Fundraising: Harnessing Technology to Build and Maintain Relationships. sponsored by the Center for Nonprofit Success, to be held Feb. 28 in NYC.  Here’s a preview of what I’ll be speaking about:

  • how you can encourage a culture at your organization where fundraising responsibilities extend beyond the development department
  • why it’s as important what you do after getting a donation as it is to encourage supporters to make that first gift
  • addressing the dilemma of not asking for too much information about donors, yet having enough data to be able to develop segmentation strategies
  • why it’s a good idea to ask donors how they want their funds to be used – and then reporting back on how you actually used their contributions
  • how to encourage your strongest supporters to encourage others to donate to your organization
  • why an editorial calendar is a must - and how often you should ask
  • if you have limited resources (i.e. all of us), where to put your efforts first in implementing an effective online fundraising strategy
Please join me at the event on Feb. 28 if you can.  My co-panelists will be communications / fundraising experts from the Bond Street Theatre, Edelman, and the Princeton University Pace Center for Civic Engagement
